"For in the end, [Huxley] was trying to tell us what afflicted the people in Brave New World was not that they were laughing instead of thinking, but that they did not know what they were laughing about and why they had stopped thinking." --Neil Postman

Does the Media influence us?

The media is open to many who have access to the Internet. It is where ideas are shared and where people begin to learn about new topics. This shows how big the media is and how easy it is to access. The media can influence your opinion on debates and inform you on what you don’t know. But the media can also spread fake news, and are there to make false statements. These destroy the media because people are gaining opinions on false statements.
Some people say that the media doesn’t influence them. They say that they don’t listen to the media and come up with opinions by themselves. This is a good way to prevent fake statements from messing with your opinions.
Are you affected by the media? How do we prevent fake news from spreading around the media? Should we all just forget about the media and make our own opinions off of facts?

  1. I think it subconsciously effects us because it is a large part of our days and is contently flooding us with so much information, I know I am affected. To prevent fake news I think we must have both algorithms and humans as a self defense against fake news meaning news should go through a filter. I do think facts should dictate our opinions so we can at least have reasoning for our beliefs, I think it would be illogical to base our opinions off the media unless it has hard facts.
