"For in the end, [Huxley] was trying to tell us what afflicted the people in Brave New World was not that they were laughing instead of thinking, but that they did not know what they were laughing about and why they had stopped thinking." --Neil Postman

Privacy? What privacy?

The internet is the largest consumption of attention known to man! However, this comes at a very large cost, which is our privacy. Something like privacy is taken granted for in first world countries but it shouldn’t be. We should be grateful if we ever have privacy, the internet however has none. Everything we do is being tracked and then bottled up as information about us to sell to advertising companies, this scheme has been going on since early 2000s and is a breach of privacy. I for one would not like pages knowing my personal information or what I like or dislike so they can give me better advertising. Sadly this is the easiest way for free sites such as google(any other search engine), social media, or streaming websites that are free, to make any money. The free websites are only free from the money they receive from selling your information, do you think this justifies them stealing our information? However there defense against it being called stealing is, is that they tell you in either a pop up or small writing hidden somewhere that indicates they will use your information, however in the pop ups it is normally hidden within hundreds of other pieces of information varies where no one will read. I have but one question left, who reads the pop ups? I do not, but I know I should because I often do not like what there terms are for using there site.
