"For in the end, [Huxley] was trying to tell us what afflicted the people in Brave New World was not that they were laughing instead of thinking, but that they did not know what they were laughing about and why they had stopped thinking." --Neil Postman

Help
The American school system has many aspects that look good in theory and on paper. Helping students learn should be the main focus of the school system. I feel that there are many things that work well, and many things that don't work well. School has become something that many students dread. Is the current school system working for our teens? To put it simply, no. It is not working.
School is something I've come to dread. It feels like almost everyday, a new thing seems to become yet another stressor, overwhelming amounts of homework, tests, illnesses, you name it. There's no reason teens should be crying over school. School should be a safe place where students can and are motivated to learn; it shouldn't be some kind of "hell" for students. Despite the good intentions teachers might have for their students, what they assign, how they teach, and what is taught seems to be more crippling than helpful.
Why is it that scores and scores of teenagers all hate school? Is it the environment? The teaching style? The amount of work? Is it the huge amounts of information (sometimes unessential) that is being crammed into 6 months? What is it about school that makes so many teens hate it? Turns out, it's a combination of all those things. The school system, as hard as may try, is unable to accommodate every teen. One thing might be suitable for one student and not for another.
Schools need to better accommodate their students. This includes teachers. It seems a large portion of teachers seem to brush off serious problems their students might have and even ridicule them for it. While not common in honors and AP classes, the attitude a lot of teachers have towards their students doesn't seem the most ideal. There are more than a few classes I have been in where I felt that the teacher held contempt for their students.
What I want for the Class of '31 is happiness and success. They have just started their academic career as kindergartners. In order for the Class of 2031 to obtain happiness and success, a number of things must be changed in our current school system. By accommodating all the students' needs, be it through less homework, a more hands-on approach to learning, more technology, the Class of 2031 may be able to attain happiness and success.

I like the dark words for a cry for help, that's a nice touch. I agree many students do indeed dread over school and for different reasons. School was fun at an early age until we get older and begin to realize what the word "work" actually meant. More work gives us more stress and the more stress we get, we begin to lose interests in wanting to do the work at all which only hurts us in the end.
