I hate school

This blog assignment is very interesting because this is the first one that I actually have an opinion about. I hate school now. When I was little I loved coming to school and learning.  Now I'm just a ball of anger walking around school. I really don't know when I changed. I think what really changed it was when I started feeling stressed, confused, and tired. Those have become my main emotions as school goes on.
I think that there are many things that need to change in our education system. One of them is Common Core. What was Common Core done to help me learn? Nothing. I also think that technology could help us because we are using technology for everything else, but it needs to be taught to the teachers how to use it in a way that works best for the students. I think we also need to work on keeping up with the students who fall behind. There are so many kids who fall behind and it seems like many teachers don't care. We aren't getting better if people are constantly falling behind. There needs to be a better way of keeping people from falling behind and picking them up when they do. I also think that it would be very helpful if teachers were more understanding of the amount of stress students are under. School is already hard enough as it is. High school students are going through many changes, some of which might be personal and are hard to deal with. Add school on top of it and many will just give up on school. So many people just give up on school because they are stressed, confused, or they just don't care. There should be a better way of prevent that from happening.
What I want for the class of 2031 is for them to actually like school. I want them to continue to learn willingly. I'm sure by then the standards will have changed, but I hope they change and actually work for them. I think that the problem with our education system is that no one really wants to learn anymore. The amount of stress makes school something to hate. We just need to find a way for the future to continue to love learning, even when they reach high school. We can't die at 15 like the prompt we read in class says. If we loved learning we wouldn't have a problem with our education system. If I still loved school and learning I wouldn't have a problem with the system, but I don't. I hate it

  1. I can totally understand the feeling of hating school, and the dread that comes with waking up and realizing that you have to leave and go to school. Like i've said in some previous comments of mine, I absolutely despise the feeling of being flooded with inane busy work, just or the sake of doing work.

I really like and can appreciate the way you put it when you said that students shouldn't feel forced to learn or do their work, and that growth should come and develop naturally, without being dragged through fifty minutes of useless information, and being left to do the work on your own at home. Schools should encourage self-growth, and loosen up on ironclad curriculum rules, even though i can understand why they exist, it seems somewhat restrictive when so much content is being crammed into a smaller and smaller school year, as opposed to being more thorough, but covering less ground.

I hate going to school for a decent few amount of reasons, some being the abrasive people that i'm forced to interact with on a daily basis, but unlike the people going to school, the system that school operates on can be changed voluntarily, making the trip to and from school everyday just a little bit less painful.

  2. I completely agree with everything you just said. I wish for the days when school wasn't a huge bundle of stress. I also hope for those kindergartners to enjoy school and not see the stress that it causes. I hope for Common Core to be fixed for these kids because if high school students can't even do the things Common Core expects, I know they won't be able to.

I don't want to hate school, but all the stress is making it something to be hated. I long for the old days.

  3. It saddens me that the one thing that all students share in common is that we despise the thought of school. Early mornings, pointless busy work, late nights... Students these days only seem to like the few moments that we aren't stuck in a classroom for an hour.

When did it stop being fun? Why don't we want to learn anymore? Like you said, kids are indeed falling behind but there is not much action being taken in helping them rise to the levels of other students.

I believe that being able to like showing up to school is such a huge benefactor in the success of students. Learning is much more enjoyable when we are actually motivated to learn instead of being weighed down by anchors of worksheets and packets. My only hope for the class of 2031 shares the same sentiment as yours: I just really hope they are able to grow up in an academic environment that doesn't drain them in any way
