First -- I always use my initials in front of my blog posts so you can scan down the "Blog Archive" list quickly and see all posts that come from me. (You don't have to do this when YOU post, and in fact if you do, it will defeat my purpose.) I'd like you to read everything I post. I post summer ideas and thoughts to the blog, and often offer advice, strategies, and other helpful bits as you approach this assignment. It will give you a sense of who I am as a teacher, what is important to me, and the things I think you should focus on.
Do not hesitate to post questions to this blog; that's best. Please don't email me with questions about the assignment, because if you are wondering, chances are there are others wondering too. I especially don't like questions about things that are clearly addressed in the assignment description. If you have read the description but still can't puzzle something out, then bring the question here, and see what your peers have to say. It's best to be independent and self-motivated enough to find answers on your own, but to share information, questions and concerns that you encounter along the way. Don't be passive or shy! Be proactive, and get the answers you need. Of course, if I am the only one who can answer your question, or if it is personal, just email me.

Dear Students, (especially those with Last Names A-M):
I have never read the Tim Wu book. I got excited when I heard him speaking on a podcast called Why Is This Happening; the episode was called, "Who Broke the Internet?" and decided to take a risk by choosing a book that I had not vetted first. I will be doing the same summer homework assignment as you are doing for Book #3 in my own high-quality AP English single-subject, 100-page, college-ruled spiral notebook. The problems you face, I will face. Please feel free to reach out for help or support, and I will do a few of the assignments out here on the blog, so you all can see the level of performance I am hoping for.
I am at a workshop. School was over yesterday, but I have been here three days, and I am all fired up for next year.
